Getting Started
Is EMCCV really free?
Yes! EMCCV is completely free to use in your web browser. You can create, customize, and export character designs without any payment.
Premium features (like cloud saves and sync across devices) will be available in the future for subscribers, but the core creation tools will always remain free.
Do I need to install anything?
Nope! EMCCV runs entirely in your web browser. Just visit the app and start creating. No downloads, no installations, no hassle.
Works on desktop and mobile browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge).
Want to work offline or load your own modules? The free desktop app is available for macOS, Windows and Linux.
How do I get started?
Just three simple steps:
1. Click "Start Creating Free" to launch the app
2. Choose a character from the dashboard
3. Start customizing colors, features, and styles!
The Getting Started guide walks you through your first character step by step.
Using EMCCV
How do I save my work?
Click "Save Entity" in the File menu (or press Cmd/Ctrl+S, or click the save icon). Your entity will be saved as an XML file that you can load later.
You can also export your creation as a PNG image (File → Export Image or Cmd/Ctrl+E, or click the capture icon).
What are "modules"?
Modules are character templates with different themes and styles. Each module contains unique visual elements you can mix and match.
The web version includes SailorXv3 (magical girl theme). For the desktop app you can also download SailorXv2 and SailorXbasic, the older SailorX generators. More modules coming soon!
What are "entities"?
An entity is your saved character design. It's an XML file that stores all your customization choices (colors, features, styles, etc.).
Think of it as a save file - load it anytime to continue editing.
Can I use random generation?
Yes! Use the dice icons in the toolbar to:
Randomize visibility (show/hide random features)
Randomize colors (generate new color schemes)
Great for inspiration or discovering unexpected combinations!
